Kathmandu- Following a decline in aviation fuel prices, domestic airlines have reduced the fuel surcharge charged to passengers.
After the Nepal Oil Corporation cut the price of aviation turbine fuel by Rs 40 per litre, effective Wednesday night, the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) announced revised fuel surcharge rates. The new charges came into effect on Thursday.
The reduction in aviation fuel prices has lowered the fuel surcharge included in domestic airfares. The revised surcharge rates are exclusive of the 13 percent Value Added Tax (VAT).
According to AOAN, the highest fuel surcharge reduction has been applied to the Kathmandu–Dhangadhi route, where the charge has decreased by Rs 1,565 to Rs 8,955.
Other major reductions include:
Kathmandu–Surkhet: Down by Rs 1,220 to Rs 7,050
Kathmandu–Mountain (Everest Experience Flight): Down by Rs 1,215 to Rs 6,955
Kathmandu–Nepalgunj: Down by Rs 1,155 to Rs 6,605
Kathmandu–Bhadrapur: Down by Rs 1,065 to Rs 6,085
Kathmandu–Biratnagar: Down by Rs 850 to Rs 4,865
Pokhara–Nepalgunj: Down by Rs 840 to Rs 4,805
Kathmandu–Bhairahawa: Down by Rs 730 to Rs 4,170
Kathmandu–Rajbiraj: Down by Rs 725 to Rs 4,145
Kathmandu–Tumlingtar: Down by Rs 650 to Rs 3,740
Kathmandu–Pokhara: Down by Rs 560 to Rs 3,215
Meanwhile, the fuel surcharge has been reduced by Rs 455 on both the Kathmandu–Janakpur and Pokhara–Bhairahawa routes. The Pokhara–Bharatpur surcharge has been lowered by Rs 395 to Rs 2,250, Kathmandu–Bharatpur by Rs 380 to Rs 2,170, and Kathmandu–Simara by Rs 320 to Rs 1,825.
Fuel surcharges for international passengers, which are calculated in US dollars, have also been reduced proportionately. The largest reduction of US$15 has been applied to the Kathmandu–Dhangadhi route.
Other reductions include:
US$12 each on Kathmandu–Mountain (Everest Experience Flight), Kathmandu–Surkhet, and Kathmandu–Nepalgunj
US$11 on Kathmandu–Bhadrapur
US$8 each on Kathmandu–Biratnagar, Kathmandu–Rajbiraj, and Pokhara–Nepalgunj
US$7 each on Kathmandu–Bhairahawa and Kathmandu–Tumlingtar
US$6 on Kathmandu–Pokhara
US$5 each on Kathmandu–Janakpur and Pokhara–Bhairahawa
US$4 on Kathmandu–Bharatpur
US$3 each on Kathmandu–Simara and Pokhara–Bharatpur.
