Kathmandu- Nepal welcomed a record 76,425 foreign tourists in June, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
This is 99.6 percent recovery compared to June 2024 and a 2.1 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic levels in June 2019.
In the same period of 2024, the total arrival accounted for 72,250, while 46,957 were in June 2022.
The tourist arrival sharply dropped in 2022 with 1,187 and just 102 in 2020,respectively.
Before the pandemic, there were 74,883 in 2019.
A total of 577,689 international visitors arrived in Nepal during the first six months of the year.
Meanwhile, 79,189 tourists had departed in the review period.
Most visitors came from India, with a total of 32,662 Indian nationals in June followed by the U.S. (9,696), China (6,736), and Bangladesh (5,449). Despite the rise, tourist numbers from India and China remained relatively stable.
