Kathmandu – In August, Nepal welcomed a total of 88,680 nternational tourists.

This number is 22 percent higher compared to the same month last year.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi, the tourism sector, which had been stalled by COVID-19, is regaining its momentum.

CEO Joshi said, 'Promotional programs under the Visit Nepal Decade, increased private sector investment, and diverse tourism products have recently contributed to attracting more tourists to Nepal.'

In the first seven months of 2025, from January to August, a total of 736,562  international tourists arrived in Nepal.

Among the total arrivals in August, the highest number came from India, with 35,505 tourists accounting for 40 percent of the total. The second highest was from China with 7,533 tourists (8.5 percent), followed by the USA with 6,068 tourists (6.8 percent), Sri Lanka with 5,953 (6.7 percent), Bangladesh with 8,262 (4.8 percent)

From a regional perspective, the highest number of tourists came from South Asian countries, totaling 47,137 (53 percent). Other Asian countries contributed 15,777 tourists (17.8 percent); Europe, 11,132 tourists (12.6 percent); the Americas, 7,293 tourists (8.2 percent); Oceania, 2,435 tourists (2.7 percent); the Middle East 944 tourists (1.1 percent); Africa, 322 tourists (0.4 percent); and from other regions, 3,640 tourists (4.1 percent).
