Kathmandu-The U.S. Embassy in Nepal has underscored the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing economic cooperation between Nepal and the United States during a discussion titled 'AI & Economic Transformation: Unlocking New Opportunities for U.S.-Nepal Partnership.'

The event, organized by the Nepal U.S. Alumni Network (NUSAN) and the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs' Forum (NYEF), was held at an American Spaces program as part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence.

Delivering the opening remarks, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Scott Urbom said Nepal's entrepreneurs, technology leaders, and innovators are playing an important role in the country's digital transformation. He noted that the United States, through its exchange programs, alumni networks, and American Spaces, remains committed to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and supporting partnerships that help translate emerging technologies such as AI into practical opportunities for Nepal's economic growth.

The program brought together entrepreneurs, innovators, policymakers, academics, U.S. exchange alumni, and technology leaders to discuss the potential of AI to boost entrepreneurship, accelerate digital transformation, and deepen bilateral collaboration.

Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker also participated in a panel discussion on AI and the future of the U.S.-Nepal partnership. He highlighted the importance of focusing on practical applications of AI, including improving productivity for small businesses and equipping Nepal's next generation of entrepreneurs with the skills needed to compete in an AI-driven economy.

According to the U.S. Embassy, the event reflects ongoing efforts to promote innovation, strengthen people-to-people ties, and expand economic cooperation between Nepal and the United States through technology and entrepreneurship.
