Kathmandu- The 6th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC has officially commenced in Bangkok, Thailand.
Under the theme 'Prosperous, Resilient, and Open BIMSTEC,' the summit aims to strengthen ties across key sectors, including trade, connectivity, security, and climate change.
Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is among the leaders addressing the summit, which also features the signing of the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Cooperation Agreement.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will present the agenda following her welcome speech.
After her remarks, the heads of delegations from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will deliver their statements. Once the agenda is passed, PM Shinawatra will hold a press conference as the host nation’s leader.
Since its establishment in June 1997, BIMSTEC has held five summits.
