The CAN Federation has introduced the conceptual framework for the Nepal India Digital Corridor. The plan aims to strengthen digital cooperation, expand cross border innovation, and support Nepal’s goal of becoming a regional technology hub.

The framework was developed under the leadership of Senior Vice President Chiranjibi Adhikari.

The framework outlines seven priorities.


First of all it focuses on  expansion of cross border fintech services that build on the current UPI Nepal connection for instant digital payments.
 Likewise, startup cooperation through incubation support, access to venture capital, and joint product development.


Mutual recognition of ICT training and certifications to improve talent mobility.
 Cybersecurity cooperation through real time threat intelligence sharing between npCert and CERT In.
 Joint AI and research programs including work on Nepali language models and collaboration among IITs, NITs, and Nepali universities.


Investment in Tier 3 data centers, fiber redundancy, and cloud ready infrastructure.
Policy harmonization on data protection, digital identity, and e commerce to support digital trade.

Adhikari said the initiative presents an economic opportunity for both countries. He said the corridor aims to create an integrated digital market that supports innovation and expands employment opportunities.

The federation said the corridor will support Nepal’s targets of creating 1.5 million IT jobs and reaching 3 billion dollars in IT service exports. It expects the plan to deepen cooperation with India in fintech, cybersecurity, AI, and digital governance.
