Chaudhary Group contributes over 2 percent share of national revenue

Kathmandu-Chaudhary Group says it paid 25.59 billion rupees in taxes in fiscal year 2024-25.

The group says this accounts for more than 2 percent of Nepal’s total revenue.

The company says it made this contribution despite political instability, slow economic activity, and a difficult investment climate.

Chaudhary Group had paid Rs 18.52 billion  in 2023-24. This year, it paid more than 7 billion rupees extra. The group says it has paid Rs 92.26 billion in taxes over the past five years.

The company says it has continued to raise its tax payments despite weak economic activity, an import dependent market, policy instability, and barriers to private investment.

The statement says the group believes its contribution supports the state’s development plans, social protection programmes, infrastructure projects, and public services.

Managing Director Nirvana Chaudhary says the group is expanding both old and new businesses to raise its revenue contribution. He thanked the Finance Minister for recognising CG’s tax contribution. He wrote that the group paid 25.59 billion rupees last year and made a notable contribution to national revenue. He said the group feels proud to help strengthen the state treasury at a time of pressure.

Nepal does not yet list the taxes paid by business groups separately. The company says this leads to confusion about the actual contributions of large taxpayers.

Chaudhary Group says it publishes its consolidated tax details every year to promote transparency. It says this clarifies the private sector’s role in nation building and encourages the government to release group wise tax data in a clear and transparent way.

The group says it paid Rs 14.28 billion rupees in 2020-21, 17.72 billion in 2021-22, 16.14 billion in 2022-23, 18.52 billion in 2023-24, and 25.59 billion in 2024-25.
It says these payments accounted for 1.7 percent, 1.8 percent, 1.8 percent, 1.9 percent, and 2.4 percent of total revenue in those years.
