Explore Bhojpur's Dagbung trekking trail that offers stunning scenery and local experiences

Bhojpur-The Dangbung trekking route in Ramprasad Rai rural municipality has emerged as a popular destination for tourists seeking natural beauty and authentic local experiences.

'Dangbung,'  the local term for rhododendron, aptly describes the vibrant floral displays that captivate visitors along this scenic path.

The route offers enchanting vistas, where the national flower, the rhododendron, and expansive meadows create a picturesque landscape. Adding to the allure are the local organic cuisines prepared and served by the indigenous communities, providing a unique cultural and culinary immersion.

Jagdish Rai, a local resident, noted the growing appeal of the region, stating that tourists are drawn to the area's natural splendor and the opportunity to savor dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. He further emphasized the positive impact of the trekking route's construction on local trade and tourism, expressing his satisfaction with the significant increase in tourist arrivals.

Notably, the hilly terrain provides panoramic views of majestic peaks, including Sagarmatha (Mount Everest), Makalu, and Kanchanjungha, along with various striking ridges. On clear days, even the distant southern plains come into view, adding another dimension to the scenic panorama.

Jogendra Rai, the Ward No. 1 Chairman of Ramprasad Rai rural municipality, highlighted the dual objectives behind the trekking route's development: promoting both domestic and international tourism while simultaneously supporting the conservation of the national flower, the laligurans. He affirmed the local government's commitment to further developing the area into a premier tourist destination.

'Boosting tourism activities here can significantly contribute to the national economy,' Chairman Rai stated. He also mentioned that an investment of Rs 7 million has been made in the construction of the initial phase of the trekking route.

Established under the Nepal climate model program, the current 7-kilometer route is slated for future expansion to incorporate nearby religious and tourist sites, enriching the overall trekking experience.

Future plans also include the development of homestay facilities, creating linkages with the broader Mundum trekking route, and integrating additional locations of historical significance. -RSS
