Kathmandu-The German Embassy in Kathmandu has rejected what it described as false and misleading reports surrounding the passport procurement issue, clarifying that Nepal's Chargé d'Affaires in Berlin was invited to a meeting at the German Federal Foreign Office and was not summoned.

In a statement on Wednesday , the embassy said the meeting should not be interpreted as a diplomatic reprimand, stressing that the distinction between an invitation and a summons is significant in diplomatic practice.

The embassy also dismissed reports claiming that Germany had issued a protest note or warned Nepal of possible consequences linked to the passport procurement case. It said no protest note or any other document was handed over during the meeting, and no warning was given regarding the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings.

Reaffirming its position, the embassy said Germany fully respects the independence of the judiciary, describing it as a constitutional principle.

‘As a matter of principle, the Embassy does not comment on ongoing court proceedings, and we have not done so at any point in this case,’ the statement said.
