Kathmandu-  Goma Shrestha had just returned from the local paddy field when the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2081 results were published on Friday.

As soon as she reached her rental home, Shrestha checked the results online and found she scored the maximum GPA of 4.

She appeared for the SEE from Bhaktapur's Mahendragram Secondary School, a community school, becoming the best student in Changunarayan Municipality as well as one of the top 30 students in Bhaktapur.

Originally from Khanyapani, Ramechhap, she came to Bhaktapur with her parents at the age of four.

Goma's father, Meen Bahadur Shrestha, said the family moved to Bhaktapur due to their poor financial condition.

'Goma has been interested in studies since childhood. She was four years old when we left the village,' Meen Bahadur recalled.

Meanwhile, Goma enrolled in the community school near the brick kiln.

Goma also daily assisted her family in the brick factory before and after school until grade nine.

In grade 10, she changed her daily routine. 'My parents also told me to concentrate on studies for one more year,' Goma said.

The school also recommended she focus on her studies because the SEE was nearing.

'So, I fully focused on my study. As a result, I got good marks in the SEE today,' she stated.

Goma said her future goal was to become a doctor, adding that there was no alternative to hard work and securing a scholarship to achieve this.

'After pursuing science in high school, my target is to become a doctor through a scholarship from any medical college in Nepal. want to become a good doctor and serve my birthplace, my country, and its people with selfless acts. I know this requires hard work, and I am ready for it,' she said.-RSS
