Government cancels 3 percent equity tax on private education and healthcare

Kathmandu-The government has revoked the 3 percent equity tax on Education Fee and Health Equity Fee for private schools and healthcare services following widespread public backlash.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced the decision on social media after consulting with Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle. He stated that implementing the 3 percent parity tax would cause additional expenses and disappointment for the common man. Consequently, the government has decided to halt the implementation of both the education and health parity fees for the time being.
