Kathmandu- Kidney transplant survivor Pemba Sherpa with the support of the Ncell Foundation has successfully summited the Mount Everest.
Pemba Sherpa has made history as the first kidney transplant recipient to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak. His extraordinary achievement is a testament to the power of human resilience, proving that no dream is impossible when driven by unwavering determination. He reached the summit on the morning of May 14.
More than a personal triumph, Pemba's journey served as a beacon of hope for millions facing physical challenges, showcasing the limitless potential of the human spirit. At the same time, his climb carried a profound message about the urgent need for climate action, drawing attention to the increasing vulnerability of the Himalayas due to climate change.
Sharing his emotions after the climb, Pemba said, 'My health remained strong throughout the summit. I’m standing on the top of the world representing 850 million kidney patients across the globe, to show that nothing is impossible.'
'This journey was also a call to save our melting Himalayas. I had reached out to many, but only the Ncell Foundation believed in my dream and made it possible. I’m truly thankful for their support, ' Sherpa said.
