Kathmandu-American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AMCHAM Nepal)  has concluded its flagship 'Washington Door Knock' program, positioning Nepal as a global hub for clean energy-powered digital infrastructure, including AI, and -driven computing.

The delegation, comprising Ajit Bikram Shah, Founding Chair AmCham; Samrath Mogha, President of Mogha Energy; and Amir R. Thapa, Executive Director AmCham Nepal, engaged in strategic dialogues with the U.S. government and private sector, including the Department of State, Department of Commerce, Department of Energy, USTDA, and DFC.

The mission also planned a forthcoming U.S.–Nepal Energy Roadshow, in partnership with the U.S. Energy Association, to connect Nepal’s hydropower potential with global investors and digital infrastructure leaders. CEO Mark W. Menezes welcomed the initiative.

Nepal’s delegation emphasized its strategic role in the global clean energy transition. They held discussions with Ambassador (Ret.) Atul Keshap, who expressed optimism about Nepal’s political maturity and investment outlook, encouraging deeper collaboration between institutions and the private sector.

The mission’s core proposition is leveraging Nepal’s hydropower resources to meet the global demand for data processing, AI computation, and blockchain technologies.

With abundant renewable energy and competitive costs, Nepal can host sustainable hyperscale data centers and support energy-intensive sectors like AI training, mining, cloud computing, and decentralized digital systems.

Ajit Bikram Shah, Founding Chair of AmCham Nepal, emphasized the need for bold thinking to align with global economic shifts and transition from aid to trade for long-term prosperity.
