Kathmandu- Nepal welcomed 91,363 foreign tourists in June 2026, according to immigration data  compiled by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The number of visitors arriving by air increased by 19.5 percent compared to the same month last year.

In June 2025, Nepal received 76,425 foreign tourists. Compared to June 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, when 74,883 tourists visited the country, arrivals in June 2026 were 22.01 percent higher.

Among all visitors in June, the largest share came from South Asian (SAARC) countries, with 48,254 tourists, accounting for 52.8 percent of total arrivals. India remained the largest source market, contributing 41,809 visitors.

A total of 16,152 tourists arrived from other Asian countries, representing 17.68 percent of total arrivals. This included 8,875 visitors from China, 2,497 from Japan, 1,765 from South Korea, and 984 from Thailand.

Europe contributed 13,119 tourists during the month. Among European countries, the United Kingdom accounted for 3,266 visitors, followed by Germany with 1,892 and France with 1,267.

The Americas recorded 6,954 tourist arrivals, making up 7.61 percent of the total. This included 5,237 visitors from the United States, 1,298 from Canada, and 219 from Brazil.

Meanwhile, 3,090 tourists arrived from the Oceania region, an increase of 56.35 percent compared to last year and 57.17 percent higher than in June 2019. Of these, 2,694 were from Australia and 390 from New Zealand.

Nepal also welcomed 674 visitors from Africa and 292 from the Middle East during the month.

According to Santosh Bikram Thapa, Senior Officer at the Nepal Tourism Board, the steady improvement in tourist arrivals in recent months has been driven by expanded international air connectivity, tourism promotion campaigns, increased marketing in key source markets, and Nepal’s growing reputation as a safe and attractive travel destination.

The Board said it is preparing to intensify promotional activities in major source markets, including India, China, the United States, Europe, and other key regions, ahead of the upcoming tourism season.
