Kathmandu- Six Nepali student teams won major awards at Codeavour 7.0, a global AI, coding, and robotics competition held in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia on May 16–17. Three other Nepali teams placed in the top 30.
Around 1,500 students from over 70 countries competed in the event. The 98 participating Nepali students, aged 8 to 18, designed technology projects to tackle global issues like air pollution, water contamination, smart agriculture, and medicine management.
The Nima Education Foundation facilitated the students' trip and honored the participants at a ceremony in Kathmandu on Sunday.
At the event, Dr. Sudan Jha, Head of Kathmandu University's IT Department, praised the students. He noted that AI and robotics are growing rapidly in Nepal and urged schools to prioritize IT education.
Foundation CEO Nischal Pradhan and Director Kiran Kumar Shrestha added that nurturing young IT skills will strengthen the country's technology sector.
