Kathmandu- Nepal’s stock market extended its winning streak to a sixth consecutive trading session on Tuesday, with the benchmark NEPSE index rising by 7.25 points, or 0.26 per cent, to close at 2,726.49 points.
The gain followed Monday’s strong performance, when the index climbed 41.70 points, or 1.55 per cent, to 2,719.24 points. The market has remained in positive territory since last Tuesday.
Despite the rise in the benchmark index, share prices of only 103 companies advanced, while 162 companies declined.
A total of 14.92 million shares of 343 listed companies were traded through 75,010 transactions during the day.
Market turnover also improved significantly, with total trading reaching Rs 6.67 billion, up from Rs 4.57 billion recorded in the previous session.
Shares of Everest Colour Limited posted the day’s biggest gain, surging 15 per cent, while the 7% Nabil Debenture 2089 registered the steepest decline, falling 7.44 per cent.
In terms of turnover, Ridi Power Company Limited led the market, with shares worth Rs 557.7 million changing hands.
Among the 13 sectoral indices, five sectors closed higher while eight sectors ended in negative territory. The Trading sub-index recorded the highest gain of the day, rising 2.88 per cent.
