Kathmandu- To climb Mount Everest, climber must first summit at least one peak over 7,000 meters.
The Tourism Bill 2025, which updates and unifies existing laws that registered in lower house, adds this requirement.
As Everest grows more crowded, the government will only issue permits after climbed another mountain above 7,000 meters.
This spring, the Department of Tourism issued 277 permits to climbers from 50 expeditions for the Everest.
Once Parliament passes the bill, it takes effect—and believed to boost interest in Nepal’s other high peaks.
