Over 2.26 million travel via TIA in first three months of 2025

Kathmandu –In the first three months of 2025, more than 2.26 million passengers traveled through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

According to Airport Chief Jagannath Niraula, between January and March, the airport handled 29,759 flights, including 7,443 international and 22,316 domestic takeoffs and landings.

International travel outpaced domestic, with 1,185,090 passengers flying internationally. Of them, 603,361 departed from Nepal, while 584,729 arrived. 

In January, 387,034 traveled internationally; in February, 373,534; and in March, 424,522. Departures and arrivals remained nearly balanced, with 3,722 outbound and 3,721 inbound international flights.

During the same period, TIA processed 3,651 tons of exported cargo and 2,587 tons of imports.

Domestic Air Travel: Over 1.07 Million Passengers

Domestically, 1,078,479 passengers flew via TIA. Of these, 548,357 departed from Kathmandu and 530,113 arrived. January saw 312,926 domestic travelers, February 357,769, and March 407,775. The airport recorded 11,165 takeoffs and 11,151 landings on domestic routes during this period.

 

Buddha Air leads 58.33 percent of Domestic Market Share

Buddha Air led the domestic market with 629,500 passengers, capturing 58.33 percent of the market share. 

Yeti Airlines followed with 234,147 passengers (21.71 percent), and Shree Airlines carried 196,016 (18.17 percent).
