Panchpokhari: Budget-friendly Himalayan escape [In Photos]

Kathmandu-Panchpokhari in Sindhupalchok is a scenic religious and tourist destination near Kathmandu. The trip can be completed for about seven thousand rupees.

It is a budget-friendly, short escape that can be done in four days. The number of domestic visitors has been increasing, especially during Dashain and Tihar holidays.

Located at an altitude of around 4,150 meters, Panchpokhari offers a short but adventurous trek. The site is named after its five ponds. From here, you can see Jugal Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Phurbi Chhyachu, and the Madiya mountain range. The route also offers a close look at the Tamang community’s culture and lifestyle.

There are two routes to reach Panchpokhari. One passes through Chautara via Sano Okhareni. The other, easier route, goes through Melamchi via Bhotang.
