Kathmandu-The Shangrila Hotel operating in Pokhara, Hotel Shangrila Village Pvt Ltd, is set to undergo an upgrade. The four star hotel, currently operating with 89 beds, will be expanded to 159 beds with an additional estimated investment of Rs 300 million.
Operating since 1990, the hotel currently has 61 rooms with 89 beds. Under the upgrade plan, capacity will increase to 101 rooms with 159 beds.
To facilitate the expansion, the Ministry of Forests and Environment has made the Environmental Impact Assessment report public to seek feedback and suggestions.
According to the report, the project will add 40 rooms and 70 beds. Two new buildings will be constructed as part of the expansion.
The hotel was closed following the Covid 19 pandemic. It is now preparing to resume operations after completing the upgrade.
At present, the hotel has seven buildings. Two additional buildings will be added.
