Kathmandu - Mountaineering royalty collected during the spring season has reached Rs 773.5 million. 

As of Sunday, the total revenue reached Rs 773,587,915, according to  the Department of Tourism . 

Mount Everest alone contributed significantly, generating Rs 676,092,028 in royalties.

This spring, a total of 1,127 mountaineers (240 women and 887 men) from 119 expeditions have been granted permits to climb 26 different peaks, including Mount Everest.

According to Liladhar Awasthi, director of the Department, Mount Everest attracted the largest number of climbers, with 456 individuals (84 women and 372 men) from 45 expeditions receiving permits. These Everest aspirants hail from 57 countries.

Other notable peaks with significant climber numbers include Mt. Ama Dablam (102 climbers, 10 expeditions), Mt. Lhotse (107 climbers, 9 expeditions), Mt. Makalu (79 climbers, 8 expeditions), Mt. Kanchenjunga (75 climbers, 7 expeditions), Mt. Nuptse (76 climbers, 6 expeditions), and Mt. Annapurna (66 climbers, 6 expeditions).

The spring season is traditionally favored for mountain climbing, including Everest.

With permit issuance ongoing, the Department anticipates a further increase in these figures.-RSS
