Spring climbing season kicks off in Nepal: 58 mountaineers secure permits

Kathmandu- Spring mountaineering season is officially begin in Nepal. 

According to the Department of Tourism, 58 climbers from 24 countries securing permits as of March 21. 

China leads with 20 climbers, followed by Germany and Georgia with 10 each as of March 21.

Likewise, Annapurna I (8,091m) has the most climbers (14), generating Rs 10.47 million in royalties.

Other peaks include Thorong Peak (6,144m), Sharphu IV (6,433m), and Pokhara Khung (6,372m). 

Meanwhile, total royalties collected so far:Rs  10.97 million.

Nepal, home to eight of the world’s fourteen tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, relies heavily on this income.
