Kathmandu-The United States and Nepal reaffirmed their longstanding partnership during a meeting on Monday between Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom and Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, with discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties through expanded economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

The leaders explored ways to build on nearly eight decades of U.S.-Nepal relations by promoting trade, investment, and deeper collaboration between the two countries. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering stronger economic connections that can create new opportunities for businesses and investors.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Khanal also congratulated U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker on his recent successful summit of Mount Everest. The achievement highlighted Nepal’s global appeal as a premier adventure tourism destination and sparked discussion on tourism promotion initiatives involving government leaders, athletes, and entrepreneurs.

The exchange underscored the potential for collaborative efforts to boost Nepal’s tourism sector, support the country's economic growth, and strengthen commercial opportunities for American companies while further deepening the enduring friendship between the United States and Nepal.
