Kathmandu- Waiwai, the instant noodles brand under Chaudhary Group, has found guilty of doging tax. CG Foods , the flagship company of CG that produced Wai Wai, has lost tax evasion case in the Revenue Tribunal (RT).
The Medium-Level Taxpayer Office had accused the company of evading Rs 12.34 million in taxes for the fiscal year 2020/21 by inflating business expenses like advertising. Despite appealing to the Internal Revenue Department and later the Revenue Tribunal, both upheld the original decision.
This isn’t the first time Chaudhary Group has faced tax issues. Previously, it was penalized for evading customs duties on imported vehicles.
A tax official noted, 'Irregularities are commonly found during CG Foods’ audits.'
