Kathmandu- The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Office has announced that parking fees will now be waived for vehicles involved in passenger pick-up and drop-off for up to 15 minutes.
Issuing a public notice on Friday, the airport office said the arrangement was introduced considering the needs of passengers and vehicles arriving at the airport for quick pick-up and drop-off services.
TIA Spokesperson Sanjay Kumar informed that the 'pick-up and drop' time limit has been extended to provide greater convenience to passengers.
'Earlier, parking fees were waived for only seven minutes, which was not sufficient for pick-up and drop-off purposes,' he said. 'Therefore, the time limit has now been extended to 15 minutes for added convenience.'
According to the airport office, the new provision will be implemented on a trial basis for one month. Authorities have also warned that action will be taken against anyone found charging parking fees contrary to the new arrangement.
