Kathmandu-The vote counting under the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 has been completed.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party, which won 125 seats under the first past the post system, secured 57 seats under the proportional representation system, bringing its total to 182 seats. The party falls short of a two thirds majority by two seats.

According to Election Commission of Nepal Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC, the commission is still receiving detailed reports from the offices of election officers after the completion of vote counting.

The commission said a total of 10,739,543 votes were counted under the proportional representation system.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party received 5,148,217 votes, which accounts for 47.86 percent of the total.

The Nepali Congress secured 1,754,395 votes, or 16.29 percent.

Similarly, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) received 1,451,956 votes, the Communist Party of Nepal obtained 809,071 votes, the Shram Sanskriti Party secured 385,682 votes, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 330,082 votes.

Other parties failed to cross the three percent threshold.
