Elon Musk led Department of Government Efficiency cuts $39M in aid for Nepal

Kathmandu -The U.S. government has canceled two major aid projects in Nepal, worth a total of $39 million. This cut could slow down Nepal’s development.

It was made under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new initiative led by Elon Musk in the second Trump administration. The canceled projects include $20 million for 'fiscal federalism,' which aimed to improve Nepal’s financial system, and $19 million for 'biodiversity conservation,' which was meant to protect Nepal’s environment and wildlife.

According to DOGE , these cuts are part of a broader effort to stop using U.S. tax money for foreign projects.
