Kathmandu-The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) has concluded a high-level institutional mission to the United Kingdom, positioning Nepal as an emerging global destination for accounting and financial outsourcing services during Accountex London 2026 and the Finance Director (FD) Show 2026.

The mission, led by ICAN President alongside the vice-president, council members and executive director, marked the institute’s debut corporate exhibition at Accountex London. The initiative formed part of ICAN’s flagship Global Accounting Initiative in Nepal (GAIN) project aimed at branding Nepal as a competitive knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) hub for international accounting and finance services.

Operating from a dedicated stall at ExCeL London during the May 13–14 summit, the delegation engaged with global accounting firms, regulators and finance professionals. The event attracted more than 16,000 delegates, 300 exhibitors and hosted 240 professional development sessions across 16 theatres.

According to ICAN, the exhibition generated strong commercial interest and technical inquiries from international firms seeking accounting outsourcing partners. The institute said the engagement highlighted major opportunities for Nepal to export professional accounting services if the country continues strengthening technical capacity, governance standards and international data security compliance.

During the visit, ICAN also held a series of bilateral meetings with global professional bodies and diaspora organisations. On May 13, the delegation met executives of the Nepalese Accountants Association United Kingdom (NAA UK) to discuss cross-border outsourcing opportunities and ways to channel accounting workflows to qualified professionals in Nepal.

The following day, ICAN delegates met Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Director of Policy and Insights Clare Lindridge to discuss collaboration on professional development, mutual pathway agreements and accounting outsourcing strategies. The delegation later held talks with Alan Vallance, chief executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), regarding recognition agreements and institutional cooperation.

A major highlight of the mission was a conference hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in the United Kingdom on May 15 titled “UK-Nepal Collaboration: Prospects of Investments and Accounting Outsourcing”. The forum brought together corporate leaders, regulators and accounting professionals from both countries to discuss investment and outsourcing opportunities in Nepal.

Speakers at the event included acting ambassador Bipin Duwadi, former Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland president Indy Singh Hothi, and representatives from ICAEW, the UK Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Nepal UK Chamber of Industry.

ICAN stated that the London mission has strengthened Nepal’s visibility as a capable and emerging outsourcing destination for accounting services. The institute believes the international engagements will help attract foreign clients, expand opportunities for Nepalese accounting professionals and contribute to the country’s economic growth through high-value service exports.

The institute also said it remains committed to policy reforms, international branding, adoption of advanced accounting technologies and regulatory improvements aimed at converting global interest into sustainable foreign currency earnings and employment generation in Nepal.
