India extends power supply hours to Nepal

India extends power supply hours to Nepal

Kathmandu- India has extended power supply to Nepal from May 1, ensuring industries get enough electricity as needed during this period.

Nepal able to  import power 600 MW via the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line by 15 hours  from 2 AM to 5 PM.

Meanwhile, electricity generation from Nepal Electricity Authority and private hydropower projects has risen significantly, with  increased water flow in rivers and streams.

As production grows and India extends the electricity import window, power cuts in the industrial sector are expected to decrease.

NEA prioritizes stable and reliable power supply to industries.

Since domestic production can't meet total demand, NEA is importing electricity from India at the maximum allowed price to support industries.

NEA thanked the Indian government for supporting Nepal’s industrial power needs.

With the monsoon approaching, electricity production is expected to rise further, making supply more reliable.
