Industrial Property Bill registered in Parliament: Aims to boost innovation in Nepal

Kathmandu- The government has registered the bill of 'Industrial Property-2082' today in the Federal Parliament.

The government proposed the bill in a bid to protect inventions, innovations, traditional knowledge, and commercial secrets. 

A bill has outlined a legal framework for industrial property, including patents, trademarks, and geographical indications.

The bill also allows inventors, scientists, and researchers to register exclusive rights to their inventions and mandates mentioning traditional knowledge sources.

It also provides for compulsory licensing for national security or denied use and proposes forming an Industrial Property Promotion Council.

The bill's main aim is to protect original inventors' rights, encourage technology investment, and expand Nepal's research and innovation environment.
