Biratnagar- Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Koshi Province Ram Bahadur Ranamagar has announced a total budget of Rs 35.87 billion for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26).

The size of the allocated budget is 1.1  percent higher than the current fiscal year. 

Out of this, Rs 18.67 billion has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, Rs 17.10 billion for capital expenditure, Rs 100 million for financial management, and Rs 4.77 billion for local governments.

To finance the budget, the government plans to raise Rs 5.50 billion from internal revenue, Rs 12.59 billion from revenue sharing, Rs 8.89 billion from fiscal equalisation grants, Rs 4.57 billion from conditional grants, Rs 390 million from supplementary grants and Rs 550 million from special grants, respectively. 
 
 The Koshi Province believed that the upcoming budget aimed to boost economic growth by encouraging private capital and prioritising ongoing mega-projects. 

The tourism sector has received a substantial budget, Minister Magar claimed. 

With the motto of 'Farmers First', the provincial government plans to promote the sector through start-up businesses, aiming to attract youth by creating an innovation-driven investment environment. 

The budget allocates a total of Rs 2.85 billion to the agricultural sector.

Likewise, the provincial government also plans to establish waste processing centres by integrating multiple local municipalities, with the goal of generating economic benefits from waste management.

Additionally, the budget will have a feasibility study for a railway line connecting Chatara to Chauri Kharka in Solukhumbu, the establishment of a separate Provincial Revenue Office, and initiatives to support media and IT development through the Koshi Provincial Communication Academy and internship opportunities for IT students.
