Marriott International became the world’s largest hospitality company because of people like those gathered here today. The entire Marriott team have shown remarkable passion and commitment in building strong partnerships. During my interactions with them, I saw firsthand their energy, professionalism, and respect for partners.
That spirit of partnership defines Marriott International. The company values its partners deeply, just as we value ours. Without trusted partners, none of us can succeed. Along with managing some of the world’s most admired hospitality brands, Marriott has built a culture based on mutual respect and collaboration.
Its achievements are extraordinary: nearly 9,900 hotels, 1.7 million rooms, and a presence in 146 countries. But today’s partnership means even more than those numbers.
Today, Nepal is making a global statement. Nepal is ready to take hospitality to the next level.
The world will now see that brands such as The Ritz-Carlton and Westin are entering Nepal, with more world-class properties expected to follow, including JW Marriott. These partnerships will not only strengthen tourism but also promote Nepal’s arts, crafts, culture, and people.
For that, we are grateful. Thank you for your trust, your confidence, and your commitment to Nepal during this important moment in our nation’s journey.
Since September 8, Nepal has entered a new era. We now have a young and energetic leadership determined to build a prosperous future. Our Parliament reflects a new generation—well-educated, globally aware, and eager to move the country forward. This is the moment for the global hospitality industry to stand with Nepal.
We feel proud that we held the groundbreaking ceremony for The Ritz-Carlton on the same day the new government took office. Within less than two months, we also had the honor of welcoming David Marriott himself to Nepal for this historic occasion.
In just two years, we have built a carefully crafted partnership with Marriott International. Nepal may soon become one of the few countries where nearly every Marriott brand is represented. That is a remarkable achievement for a small Himalayan nation and a young republic.
Nepal deserves a special place on Marriott International’s global map.
This partnership also comes at a meaningful time as Marriott celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding. I would like to pay tribute to J.W. Marriott, whose vision and leadership built Marriott International into what it is today. Though I never had the opportunity to meet him, I have always admired the legacy he created.
As we move forward, I hope this partnership continues to grow stronger. Together with our partners, we can create new opportunities, open new doors, and take this relationship to even greater heights—not only in Nepal, but beyond.
