Kathmandu- On the last trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange index rose by 5.36 points to close at 2,838.40.

The sensitive index fell by 0.12 percent. The sensitive float index slipped by 0.01 percent. The float index declined by 0.18 percent.

A total of 18.06 million shares of 335 companies were traded in 96,573 transactions. The total turnover stood at Rs 7.46 billion.

Shares of Ridge Line Energy, Suryakunda Hydro, Hotel Forest Inn, Palpa Cement, and Shikhar Power Development hit the positive circuit.

National Hydropower Company led in turnover with shares worth Rs 668.6 million traded.

Out of 13 subgroups, five posted gains while eight declined. Hotel and tourism rose the most by 1.38 percent.

Hydropower increased by 0.67 percent. Others gained 0.56 percent. Trading edged up by 0.03 percent.

Banking fell by 0.27 percent. Development banks dropped by 0.38 percent. Finance declined by 0.34 percent. Investment slipped by 0.16 percent. Life insurance edged down by 0.07 percent. Microfinance fell by 0.33 percent. Non life insurance declined by 0.53 percent.
