Kathmandu-The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index continued to decline on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week, extending losses from the previous session.
The benchmark index fell by 17.91 points to close at 2,807.31. The Sensitive Index dropped by 3.07 points, the Float Index declined by 1.11 points, and the Sensitive Float Index fell by 1.01 points.
Despite the decline in the index, total turnover increased. On Monday, the market recorded transactions worth Rs 5.43 billion. On Tuesday, shares of 347 companies were traded 95,800 times, with a total turnover of Rs 5.77 billion. A total of 13.019 million shares were exchanged.
Three stocks hit the positive circuit limit. These included Suryakunda Hydroelectric, Palpa Cement Industries, and Shikhar Power Development.
Corporate Development Bank gained nearly 15 percent, Asian Hydropower rose by around 11 percent, and Hotel Forest Inn increased by about 10 percent. Meanwhile, Dolti Power Company recorded the highest loss, falling by 8.71 percent.
In terms of turnover, Solu Hydropower led the market with transactions worth Rs 370.7 million. Reliance Spinning Mills recorded turnover exceeding Rs 300 million, while National Hydropower saw trades worth around Rs 235 million.
Among the 13 sub-indices, only one posted gains while 12 declined. The Hotels and Tourism sub-index rose by 1.16 percent. The Others sub-index fell the most by 1.27 percent, while the Hydropower and Finance sub-indices declined by more than 1 percent each.
