NEPSE index drops by 2.61 points

Kathmandu-The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday,  has slightly decreased by 2.61 points to close at 2,757.40. 

Share prices of 82 companies increased, while 175 declined and 12 remained unchanged. 

Likewise, daily turnover dropped to Rs 6.737 billion on Tuesday, down from Rs 10.928, billion recorded on Monday. 

During Tuesday’s trading session, shares of three companies— Bhujung Hydropower Limited, Super Khudi Hydropower Limited and Swet-Ganga Hydropower & Construction Limited—hit the positive circuit limit, gaining the maximum 10 percent.

Ngadi Group Power Ltd led the turnover with shares worth Rs 242.261 million traded, followed by Reliance Spinning Mills Limited at Rs 242.162 million.

Meanwhile, of the 13 sub-indices , only three ended in the green. 

The recent developments in the money laundering investigation have caused widespread turbulence in the stock market, which has been on a continuous decline. The Nepal NEPSE index has fallen steadily, weakening investor morale.

Market analysts and brokers attribute the recent decline to events linked to the money laundering investigation. The arrest of businessman Deepak Bhatt has created psychological pressure, as other investors and businessmen connected to him could also face investigation.
