Kathmandu-Indian national Rakesh Kumar Adukia, known for controversial business dealings in Nepal, has been found to be importing and selling cars in Nepal by establishing companies in Hong Kong and appointing Nepal-based firms as authorised dealers.

Luxury vehicles from brands such as Tesla, Land Rover, Audi and Porsche have been exported to Nepal through Hong Kong-based companies South China Exim Limited and Automobile Universal Development International.

However, investigations show that these firms have no official dealership agreements with manufacturers such as Tesla, Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche or Audi. The Hong Kong entities also do not appear to be engaged in legitimate automobile-related operations.

Despite this, the two companies have been appointing Nepal-based firms Arete International Pvt Ltd and Kaeros International Pvt Ltd as authorised dealers and facilitating the sale of luxury vehicles.

Following internal disputes within Kaeros International, the company was restructured from Eureka Investment Pvt Ltd, which was registered under Adukia’s brother-in-law Sumanta Jajudia. The renamed Kairos International Pvt Ltd now continues to import vehicles from the Hong Kong firms.

Both Arete International and Kaeros International, although registered under Rajesh Sharma, are believed to be operating under Adukia’s control.

Investigations suggest that Adukia has been directly involved in key decisions, negotiations and operations despite his name not appearing in official records.

Evidence obtained by Biznessnews shows that Adukia established the Hong Kong companies after failing to secure official dealership rights from manufacturers. Records confirm that he holds shares in South China Exim Limited, which was registered in Hong Kong in 2016.

According to company registration details, South China Exim Limited was incorporated on 14 January 2016 with registration number 65696935. The company remains active and operates as a private limited company.

Its registered office is listed as Room 12, 14/F, Peninsula Square East Wing, 18 Sung On Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The address has been in effect since 20 May 2025.

The company has a total issued capital of HKD 100,000. Adukia holds 10,000 ordinary shares, while Wah Fai Ku holds 90,000 shares.

Wah Fai Ku is currently listed as the director, while Champion Corporate Limited serves as the company secretary, a position it has held since January 2020.

The details are based on updated records from the Hong Kong Companies Registry as of March 2026. There has been no change in the company’s name since its incorporation.

The alleged illegal import scheme began with Tesla vehicles brought into Nepal through Shrima Distribution Pvt Ltd. Tesla does not appoint authorised dealers globally and operates through its own channels in markets where it sells vehicles.

Despite this, Adukia used his Hong Kong company to appoint Nepal-based firms as authorised dealers and began importing Tesla vehicles.

Following controversy over Tesla imports, Arete International Pvt Ltd was established and similarly designated as an authorised dealer.

Questions have been raised over how the Department of Commerce issued agency certificates to these firms without verifying official manufacturer authorisation.

Investigations suggest that documents and vehicles linked to Adukia’s network were cleared smoothly through customs and regulatory bodies.

After successfully importing Tesla vehicles, Adukia expanded operations by establishing Automobile Universal Development International to import Audi, Porsche and Land Rover vehicles. Kaeros International was set up to handle these imports.

Initially, Audi vehicles were imported, followed by Porsche and later Land Rover models.

Following internal disputes, the original Kaeros entity was deactivated and replaced by Kaeros International Pvt Ltd, which now continues to import Land Rover vehicles as an authorised dealer.

The company was restructured from Eureka Investment Pvt Ltd, previously registered under Sumanta Jajudia.

Concerns have been raised over how a company with no prior experience in the automobile sector was granted agency registration by the Department of Commerce without due verification.

Further allegations involve tax evasion. Vehicles such as the Land Rover Defender imported by Kaeros International were reportedly declared as petrol models, while in reality they were diesel vehicles.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority is conducting a detailed probe into the case, including possible collusion between customs and commerce officials.

Authorities suspect that misdeclaration of fuel type may have resulted in tax evasion amounting to millions.
