Kathmandu – As the monsoon season progresses, Nepal's rice plantation efforts are nearing completion, with a national average of 83.88 percent of the target area planted as of August 3.
This figure is slightly behind last year's progress for the same period, which stood at 96.47 percent.
The Sudurpaschim Province is leading the nation with an impressive 99.72 percent of its target area planted, closely followed by Karnali Province at 96.47 percent and Bagmati Province at 92.92 percent.
Provinces that are lagging behind the national average include Madhesh Province at 57.28 percent and Gandaki Province at 88.97 percent . Koshi Province is at 89.03 percent and Lumbini Province at 95.96 percent.
The total area targeted for rice cultivation is 1,378,966.98 hectares, of which 1,156,687.8 hectares have been planted so far.
