Kathmandu-A luxurious five-star Royal Tulip Chitwan has opened in Sauraha, a major gateway to Chitwan National Park.

With an investment of about 1.70 billion rupees, KTM Hospitality developed it under the Louvre Hotels Group, which operates more than 1,750 hotels in about 70 countries.

The resort sits near the edge of Chitwan National Park. It offers luxury, nature, and adventure in one place. It has 65 rooms and villas in categories such as Superior, Deluxe, Premium, Pool Villa, Water Villa, and Machan suites.

Rates start at 17,000 rupees and reach 100,000 rupees per night.
Chairman of the hotel Rameshwar Shah said tourist arrivals fell after the government banned resort operations inside the national park. He said the policy hurt tourism and private investment.

He added that Royal Tulip Chitwan aims to revive high-end nature based tourism.

The property has more than two hundred plants and trees. It includes an STP plant, an oil filtration system, an in house bottling plant, and eco friendly systems to support waste reduction and environmental protection.

Facilities include a spa, gym, swimming pool, open jacuzzi, kids zone, gaming area, badminton court, mini putting course, boating, fishing, and a 1.8 kilometer nature trail.

Three banquet halls can host up to five hundred guests. The resort also has a helipad and event management services.

Forest Flame serves Tharu and Nepali dishes with grill and outdoor barbecue options. A sports bar offers cocktails and live match screenings. Regular Tharu cultural performances are part of the program.


Shah said the resort plans to open a casino soon, which he expects will appeal to high end leisure visitors.
