Biratnagar- The investment summit organized by the Koshi Province Government in Biratnagar concluded successfully, with twice the expected number of investment agreements signed.
The Koshi Province Investment Authority finalized deals on 46 projects with national and international investors, totaling Rs 152.6 billion in commitments.
The government had expected around two dozen agreements, but the final count nearly doubled.
The industrial sector received the largest share, with Rs 66.87 billion in commitments. Of this, Rs 32 billion was pledged by industrialist Santoshmani Nyaupane for a cement clinker plant in Udayapur.
Other commitments include Rs 38.41 billion in infrastructure, Rs 34.19 billion in tourism, Rs 8.62 billion in energy, Rs 3 billion across eight agriculture projects, Rs 470 million in two IT projects, and Rs 6 billion in waste management.
Investors highlighted the province’s geographic and resource potential and called for more efforts to create a business-friendly environment.
The summit concluded with formal agreement signings between investors and Koshi Province Investment Authority CEO Dr. Saroj Koirala.
