Kathmandu – Santosh Narayan Shrestha, Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), has resigned from his post.
He submitted his resignation letter at the Ministry of Finance at around 5:30 pm on Friday.
Shrestha, who assumed leadership of the board on Mangsir 10, 2081, on the recommendation of then Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, has ended his tenure in about one and a half years.
His resignation comes amid discussions of leadership change following the formation of a new government and increasing political pressure.
In recent times, he had faced repeated questions over his alleged closeness with intermediaries. According to sources, after indications that the government was preparing to remove him from the position, Shrestha stepped down voluntarily before any formal dismissal.
