Kathmandu-The U.S. Embassy in Nepal has hailed the success of Ascent Summit 2026, which brought together more than 1,400 climbers, expedition leaders, athletes, innovators, outdoor brands, tourism professionals, rescue experts, storytellers, and members of the mountain community to discuss the future of Everest, adventure tourism, and Himalayan exploration.

Held in Kathmandu, the summit served as a platform for dialogue on improving safety, sustainability, innovation, and international cooperation in Nepal’s mountaineering sector.

The event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, cultural performances, interactive exhibits, and networking opportunities, highlighting how Nepal’s rich mountaineering heritage and American innovation can work together to support safer expeditions, stronger partnerships, and new economic opportunities.

A key highlight of the summit was the recognition of the 14-member Elite Sherpa Team, also known as the Everest Rope Fixing Team. The team was honoured for its skill, dedication, and courage in establishing safer climbing routes on Mount Everest for mountaineers from around the world, including American climbers.

The U.S. Embassy expressed gratitude to the summit’s speakers, moderators, performers, exhibitors, partners, collaborators, and attendees for contributing to the event’s success.

In a statement following the summit, the embassy said the discussions and partnerships forged during the event would continue beyond the gathering. It reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to working with Nepal to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.

The embassy also expressed confidence in Nepal’s continued emergence as a leading global destination for adventure tourism, noting the country’s unique position in the international mountaineering industry.

Ascent Summit 2026 underscored the growing collaboration between Nepal and the United States in the fields of tourism, innovation, and outdoor adventure, while reinforcing shared efforts to enhance safety and opportunities in the Himalayan region.
