Weekly Market Overview: NEPSE rebound after sharp decline of 105 points on Sunday

Kathmandu- The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has showed a recovery trend during the week.

After a sharp decline of 105 points on Sunday, NEPSE rebounded with an 83.33-point gain on Monday, followed by a marginal drop of 2 points on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the index rose again by 45.12 points to settle at 2,802.52 before extending gains further on Thursday.

NEPSE recorded a strong gain on the fifth trading day of the week, rising by 48.71 points to close at 2,851.24.

Alongside the benchmark index, key indicators also posted notable increases. The Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of 'A' class companies, climbed by 0.97 percent. Similarly, the Sensitive Float Index rose by 1.57 percent, while the Float Index increased by 1.03 percent.

Trading activity remained robust, with a total of 27,931,770 shares of 338 companies exchanged in 188,869 transactions. The day’s total turnover stood at Rs 9.919 million.

Several companies hit positive circuit levels during the session, including Bhujung Hydropower Limited, Reliance Spinning Mills Limited, Atmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Ridge Line Energy Limited, Solu Hydropower Limited, Hotel Forest Inn Limited, Super Khudi Hydropower Limited, and Suryakunda Hydro Electric Limited.

In terms of turnover, National Hydro Power Company Limited recorded the highest trading value, with shares worth Rs 434.766 million changing hands.

All 13 subgroups ended the day in positive territory. The ‘Others’ subgroup led the gains with a rise of 3.43 percent. Hydropower followed with a 2.70 percent increase, while the production and processing sector gained 2.58 percent. The hotel and tourism sector rose by 2.39 percent.

Other sectors also posted gains, including banking (1.24 percent), development banks (0.78 percent), finance (1.47 percent), investment (1.00 percent), life insurance (0.99 percent), microfinance (1.20 percent), non-life insurance (1.00 percent), and trading (0.62 percent).

The across-the-board gains indicate renewed investor confidence and broad-based market momentum.
