Kathmandu-The results of the House of Representatives election have written  a new chapter in  in Nepali politics.

According to the results of the first past the post system, 61 young candidates under the age of 40 have secured seats in Parliament.

52 young lawmakers have been elected the Rastriya Swatantra Party, which has come close to securing a two-third majority. The result has dealt a major blow to veteran leaders who dominated politics for decades.

Jhapa constituency number-5 became the biggest focus of the election. Thirty-six year old Balendra Shah the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured a historic victory with 68,348 votes, defeating CPN UML chair and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli.

Similarly, in Chitwan-3, 30 year old Sobita Gautam the same party won the election with 59,277 votes. She defeated CPN candidate former Mayor of Bharatpur Renu Dahal by a margin of 38,662 votes.

Another example of the youth wave appeared in Morang-6. Thirty-one year old Rubina Acharya the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 55,513 votes and defeated Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala.

The youngest male member of parliament is 25 year old Prashant Upreti. The Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate won Makwanpur-2, defeating CPN UML candidate Mahesh Kumar Bartaula by more than double the votes.

In Kathmandu-5, 29 year old Sasmita Pokharel the Rastriya Swatantra Party won with 30,737 votes, defeating Nepali Congress leader Pradeep Paudel.

In Rupandehi-2, 28 year old Sulav Kharel the same party secured a landslide victory while CPN UML vice chair Bishnu Paudel was limited to 12,000 votes.

In Bhaktapur, 39 year old Rajiv Khatri the Rastriya Swatantra Party received 42,334 votes and defeated influential UML leader Mahesh Basnet.

Young leaders the Nepali Congress have also entered Parliament. 32 year old Yogesh Gauchan Thakali won Mustang with 3,307 votes. In Jajarkot, Khadga Bahadur Budha secured victory with 20,142 votes by defeating Shakti Bahadur Basnet. Congress candidates Sandeep Rana won Palpa-1 and young Madhesh leader Mohammad Firdaus Alam won Rautahat.

Two candidates under 40 CPN UML have also entered Parliament. They include Kshitij Thebe Taplejung and 36 year old Suhang Nembang Ilam 2.

Similarly, 29 year old Aren Rai the Shram Sanskriti Party won the election Khotang.

the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, 34 year old Gyan Bahadur Shahi won Jumla. Shahi, the only winning candidate the party, had previously served as a member of parliament.
