Kathmandu-The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday, witnessed a marginal decline as the country’s sole secondary market shed 0.04 points, ultimately settling at 2,662.09.
This slight downward movement was accompanied by modest trading activity, where 22.28 million shares from 329 companies were exchanged, generating a total turnover of Rs 8.692 billion.
The overall bearish sentiment was further evidenced by broader market indicators; the sensitive index, which tracks the performance of Class ‘A’ stocks, increased by 0.17 percent, and the float index, representing actively traded shares, saw a 0.04 percent up.
While eight sub-indices closed in negative territory, the remaining sectors faced a increase.
Investors remain cautious yet expectant as the market continues its quest to reclaim historic peaks. While the index briefly crossed the 3,000-point threshold in August of both last year and earlier this month, it has since retreated, leaving the all-time high of 3,199.03 points—set on September 2, 2021—as the ultimate benchmark for the current market recovery.
