Kathmandu-Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Biswo Nath Poudel met with Pan Gongsheng, Governor of the People’s Bank of China, at the 20th Asia Pacific High Level Meeting on Banking Supervision in Tianjin, China.
The meeting discussed opportunities and challenges in cross-border payments, investment, and cooperation between Nepal and China. They also exchanged views on emerging financial sector practices, innovation, technological development, and contemporary issues.
The meeting also covered facilitating and reducing costs of QR code-based payments during citizen visits between the two countries. PBOC Governor Fan expressed China’s readiness to cooperate on electronic payment transaction modernization.
Governor Poudel emphasized the need for continuity in cooperation, coordination, and communication between the two central banks, stating Nepal Rastra Bank’s readiness to play its role.
The meeting was attended by Zou Yu, Director General of the International Department of the People’s Bank of China, and Nepal Rastra Bank officials Dirgha Bahadur Rawal and Roshan Neupane.
