Kathmandu-The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed at 2,705.53 on Wednesday, representing a negligible gain of 0.08 points.
Market activity included a total turnover of Rs 3.63 billion with over 8.3 million shares traded.
Market breadth was relatively balanced, with 126 companies advancing and 131 declining.
The Top Gainers list shows Sopan Pharmaceuticals Limited and Appolo Hydropower Limited leading with a 14.99 percent .
NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited recorded the highest turnover at over Rs 211 million.
The market showed mixed results, with the Investment Index leading the gains by rising 0.53 percent (+0.52 points), closely followed by the Manufacturing and Processing sector, which gained 0.51 percent and achieved the highest absolute increase of 56.06 points.
The HydroPower Index and Finance Index also closed in positive territory with gains of 0.30 percent and 0.14 percent respectively, while the Development Bank Index closed virtually flat at 0.00 percent.
Conversely, the majority of sectors declined, led by the Hotels and Tourism Index which dropped 0.64 percent (-49.81 points) and the Trading Index which fell 0.60 percent (-20.46 points). The Non Life Insurance sector faced the heaviest absolute drop of 62.50 points, representing a 0.55 percent decrease.
Other declining sectors included the heavy-weight Banking SubIndex down 0.18 percent, the Others Index down 0.08 percent, Life Insurance down 0.07 percent, and Mutual Funds down 0.05 percent.
