Kathmandu-The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed lower on Monday due to selling pressure across most sectors. The NEPSE benchmark fell 5.54 points to 2,635.00 a 0.20 percent drop.
Total turnover reached Rs 6.47 billion with over 12.30 million shares traded, showing active participation despite the decline.
Market breadth remained weak, with 178 stocks declining, 75 advancing, and seven unchanged.
Most sector indices ended in the red, with notable losses in banking, finance, microfinance, insurance, hydropower, investment, and trading. Manufacturing and processing gained over one percent.
SY Panel Nepal led turnover with Rs 422.1 million, followed by Radhi Bidyut Company and Manjushree Finance Limited.
SY Panel Nepal and Shreenagar Agritechs hit the daily upper limit, but late session selling erased gains and kept investor sentiment cautious.
