Kathmandu- Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) turnover significantly jumped to Rs 21.223 billion on Thursday from Rs12.034 billion,signaling strong investor activity. Investors traded 56.920 million shares during the session.
The all time highest turnover of the NEPSE so far was recorded on August 15, 2024, when the market saw transactions worth Rs 29.95 billion. Earlier on March 10, the daily turnover crossed Rs 21.5 billion.
Likewise, NEPSE index has climbed by 64.67 points, or 2.29 percent, to settle at 2,877.02. Market breadth remained positive. 240 companies recorded gains, while just 22 companies posted losses and two companies remained unchanged.
Likewise, the sensitive index, which tracks the performance of Class ‘A’ stocks, increased by 2.40 percent, and the float index, representing actively traded shares, saw a 2.50 percent up.
Likewise, all sub-indices ending the session in positive territory. The development bank posted the largest gain, jumped by 3.95 percent, followed by banking sector (3.16 percent).
A notable highlight of the day was the exceptional performance of a few specific entities. Three companies—Corporate Development Bank Limited , Salapa Bikas Bank Limited, and Reliance Spinning Mills Limited, saw their share prices hit the upper circuit, surging by the maximum daily limit of 10 percent.
Likewise, the share prices of the Solu Hydropower Limited almost hit positive circuit, jumped by 9.99 percent compared to previous trading session.
Meanwhile, recent election results have provided fresh momentum to the stock market, which had remained relatively stable for a long period. Investors appear optimistic, as the strong mandate received by new political forces—seen as alternatives to traditional parties—has raised expectations of economic reforms, improved governance, and structural changes in the country’s economy.
